Diode current equation is given by the following expression:


where I = I is the current flowing through the diode
                I0 = Diode leakage current
                V = Applied Voltage
                q = electron charge value
                K = Boltzmann's constant
                T = absolute temperature




Pn junction diode is a basic electronics passive component. It is a unidirectional device. It has two types of material in its construction. P type material and n type material. When p type material is coonected to positive terminal of voltage source and negative terminal is connected to negative terminal of voltage source than we say that the diode is forward biased.

If we draw the graph for forward biased, the curve drwan can be represented by the function that is known as current equation of diode. The graph for forward bias of pn junction diode is drawn between current and voltage.

The equation written above is the current equation of diode.
